A decision carried out thoughtfully includes the people who have to adjust afterward.

LEADERSHIP
A decision is not finished when it is made. Somebody has to change a rota, rebook a childminder, tell a client, redo a week of work, and the quality of the decision includes whether any of that was thought about. Announcing a change and treating the consequences as someone else’s administration is the commonest way a reasonable choice lands badly. How something arrives becomes part of what it means.
Before you change something this week, list who has to move because of it. Give them the timing they need rather than the timing that suits the announcement.
