A bowl can be slightly uneven and still become everyone’s preferred one.

Preference is not accuracy. Something a little off tends to sit better in the hand, feel more like an object than a product, and become the one people pick up without thinking. The flaw is often what makes it recognisable, and being recognisable is a large part of being loved.

When you make something, resist correcting every irregularity before anyone has used it. And when you are hard on your own unevenness, remember that it is frequently the part other people are fond of.
