The person asking for the instructions again has chosen usefulness over appearing effortless.

Asking twice costs something in appearance and buys something in accuracy. The person who nods and works it out later is protecting a picture of themselves; the person who says they did not catch it is protecting the work. Rooms often reward the first and quietly pay for it afterwards, in errors nobody traces back to the moment someone was too proud to ask.

Give yourself permission to be the one who asks this week, and say it plainly rather than dressing it up. If you are the one explaining, thank the asker out loud so the next person finds it easier.
