The date you postpone can keep postponing other people’s decisions around it.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
A postponed decision rarely stays local. Other people have arranged their own plans around your date, so moving it moves their holidays, their bookings, their hiring, their sense of what the next month contains, and most of that cost is invisible to you because nobody wants to complain about a delay you clearly needed. Waiting can be the right call. It is just never as cheap as it looks from the middle.
If you are holding something open, tell the people affected when you will decide, even if you cannot yet decide. A date for the decision releases most of what the delay is costing them.
