The misunderstanding you explain once need not become a story you keep defending forever.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Setting something straight once is a reasonable act. Setting it straight repeatedly turns a small misreading into a permanent occupation, and the repetition tends to keep the misunderstanding alive rather than settle it. Somewhere in the second or third telling, the explanation stops being about the facts and starts being about wanting to be believed, which no amount of detail will resolve.
Say your piece clearly, once, to the people it actually concerns. Then let the silence do the rest, even though it will feel like losing for a while. Most misunderstandings shrink faster when nobody is feeding them.
