A familiar place can teach you what staying makes visible.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Novelty shows you surfaces; repetition shows you patterns. Walk the same lane for five years and you learn which tree comes into leaf first, whose curtains change, where the water collects after rain, none of which is available to a visitor no matter how attentive. Staying is a form of looking that only works over time, and it is often mistaken for having seen nothing.
Pick a short route you already know and walk it deliberately this week, looking for one thing you have never registered. Do it again next month. The place has been offering this the whole time, waiting for the repetition.
What has a place you never left finally shown you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
