A crowded bookshelf can hold more intention than experience.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A full shelf records what you meant to become as much as what you have done. Each unread spine was bought by a version of you with a particular ambition, and the collection quietly accumulates into a portrait of intentions rather than a record of reading. Nothing is shameful in that, though it can feel like a room of small debts.
Take one book down and either start it this week or let it go to someone who will. Buying is a pleasure and reading is a different one, and they need separate time. A shorter shelf with more of it read is not a lesser shelf.
How many of your unread books were bought as promises?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
