The object made together holds evidence of company inside its useful shape.

Some things carry the afternoon they were made in. A shelf built with a friend, or a meal cooked with a parent, goes on being a shelf or a meal while also holding the hours of talk that went into it. The usefulness and the memory sit in the same object without interfering. That is why such things resist being replaced by better versions.
Make something with somebody this month, even something small and slightly wonky. The working alongside is the point rather than the result. Years later the object will be doing two jobs, and the second will be why you kept it.
What did you build with someone that still holds their company?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
