Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant.

RESILIENCE
Capacities you never knew about tend to appear when something requires them. People discover they can organise, endure, negotiate or hold a family together, and the discovery happens only because the easy route closed. None of this makes hardship desirable or for the best; plenty of it is simply loss. It does mean that what you can do is not fully known to you, and your current estimate came from untested conditions.
If you are in a hard stretch, notice what you are managing that you would not have believed possible last year. Write it down while it is happening; that record is worth having when the next thing comes.
Which capability of yours only appeared when things went wrong?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
