Life sometimes removes the floor just to teach you how much balance was already inside you.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When the things you were standing on give way, whether that is a job, a relationship, or a plan, you find out that some of your steadiness was never in the structure. It is a brutal way to learn it and nobody would choose the lesson. But people who go through it often report the same thing: that they were more able to stand than they expected. That capacity was already there and had simply never been separately visible.

If something has just fallen away, look for what is still functioning rather than only at what is gone. Name the parts of you that showed up in the first week. Those are the parts that are actually yours and they do not depend on the thing you lost.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When something fell away beneath you, what kept you standing?
