Not every wound needs revenge; some deserve transformation.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The impulse to return harm is understandable and human, and it also tends to keep you bound to the person who hurt you, because you have to keep them in mind for it to work. Turning the injury into something else, a boundary, a skill, a way of protecting others, uses the same energy and puts it somewhere that belongs to you. That is not the same as forgiving, and it does not require you to. It is about where your attention goes next.

When you catch yourself rehearsing a confrontation, ask what you actually want your life to contain more of. Then put the next hour into that instead. Some wounds also require justice or distance, and choosing transformation does not mean giving up either.
