The sublime and the ridiculous are often so nearly related, that it is difficult to class them separately. One step above the sublime makes the ridiculous, and one step above the ridiculous makes the sublime again.

CREATIVITY
Grandeur and absurdity live on the same street. The line that moves a room and the line that makes it wince differ by a small amount of excess, and the person delivering them cannot always feel which side they are on. Push a little past the true feeling and it curdles; push a little past the curdle and, oddly, it can come back around and land. Sincerity is risky, and worth the risk.
Before you send the heartfelt message or make the big gesture, read it once as a stranger would. Cut the one phrase doing the most work to impress, and let the rest stand.
