Every storm eventually runs out of sky.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

No condition is permanent, though the middle of something hard is exactly where that stops being believable. Storms exhaust themselves; circumstances shift; the intensity of a feeling cannot be sustained indefinitely by the body producing it. Knowing this does not shorten anything. It sometimes makes the waiting more bearable.

When the present feels endless, narrow your view to the next day rather than trying to see the end. Keep the ordinary anchors going: sleep, food, one person you speak to. And if the storm has lasted a very long time, that is a signal to bring in help rather than to wait alone.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you enduring that will not last as long as it feels?
