A man of courage is also full of faith.

RESILIENCE
Courage is never pure nerve. Anyone who moves toward danger is acting on something unproven: that it will be worth it, that they can bear the outcome, that the world is not entirely hostile. Call that faith, confidence or stubbornness, but without some version of it the body simply will not go forward.
Which means bravery can be assembled rather than merely summoned. Ask what you would have to believe in order to do the thing you are avoiding, then go looking for the smallest piece of evidence for it. Most courage is built out of small trusts rather than produced in one heroic burst.
What belief steadies you when you have to act while scared?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
