God will not look you over for medals degrees or diplomas, but for scars.

— Elbert Hubbard

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Credentials record what you were able to complete. Scars record what you were willing to survive. The second list is the one that actually made you, and it is usually the one you keep quiet about, because it is made of losses, wrong turns and things that never healed cleanly. Nothing you carried through that is wasted.

Think of one thing you came through that appears nowhere on paper. Ask what it taught you that success never would have, and let that knowledge count when you are weighing what your life adds up to.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which hard experience taught you more than any credential did?
