Carrying an umbrella doesn’t stop the rain. It just stops the rain from deciding your day.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Preparation does not remove the problem, it removes the problem’s control over what you do. Weather arrives regardless, and the difference between a ruined day and an ordinary one is usually a small thing done in advance. Most of the power that circumstances have over you comes from being caught without a plan.

Look at what predictably goes wrong for you, the late bus, the flat battery, the forgotten kit, and put one thing in place for each. Keep it simple and physical, a charger in the bag, an alarm ten minutes earlier.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Do you prepare for rain or just resent it?
