Your worst job taught you what you’ll never tolerate from a boss or become as one.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Bad management is a detailed education in what not to do, delivered at close range. You learn what it feels like to be spoken to a certain way, to have a schedule changed with no notice, to be blamed for something outside your control. That knowledge is specific in a way no advice can be. It sets a floor for what you will accept and a warning about who you could become with a little authority.

Write down three things you would never do to someone working for you. Keep the list somewhere. You will need it sooner than you expect.
