Being the worst player in a new sport is how every good player started. Show up bad.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
There is no route to being good that skips the stretch where you are visibly not. Everybody on that court had a season of being the slowest one, and most of them remember it clearly, which is why they are far less bothered by your beginner mistakes than you are. Being bad in public is the actual price of admission.
Pick the thing and show up unprepared to impress anyone. Ask what you should work on. Keep a note of one thing that improved each week. The embarrassment fades much faster than the skill does.
What would you try if being bad at first were fine?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
