A noisy mind can still sit in a quiet room with God. He’s patient with static.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Racing thoughts are not a disqualification from being with God. People assume prayer requires an empty head, so anyone whose brain refuses to settle decides they are bad at it and stops trying. The noise is not offensive to Him. You can sit there scattered, thinking about six unrelated things, and that still counts as being there.

Try five minutes without clearing your mind first. Let thoughts run past like traffic instead of chasing each one down the street. When you notice you drifted, come back without apologizing, and count the coming back as the practice itself.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Could you sit with God even with your thoughts racing?
