Carrying someone’s burden sometimes looks like carrying their groceries. Start there.
GRATITUDE
GRATITUDE
Helping somebody usually gets pictured as emotional, a long conversation where you say the right thing. Much of the time the burden is literal. It is the bags, the ride, the shift covered, the dishes done without being asked, and that kind of help reaches people who would never accept the conversation. Practical is not a lesser form of caring.
Think of someone having a hard month. Do a specific physical thing for them this week rather than asking how you can help, since that question hands the work back to them. Pick something and just do it.
Whose load could you lighten with something physical this week?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
