The beginning is exciting and the end feels great. The middle is where you find out who you are.

Starting runs on novelty and finishing runs on the end being in sight. The middle has neither. That stretch is long, unwitnessed and boring, and it is where most things quietly get abandoned, which is exactly why getting through it tells you something the other two parts never could.

Work out where the middle sits in whatever you are doing and plan for it now. Set up a reason to continue that does not depend on feeling inspired: somebody expecting you, a fixed time, the next step already written down.
