Growth is uncomfortable because you’re wearing a size up before you’ve filled it.

New roles arrive before the confidence that fits them. You get the title, the shift, the position, and for a while you are moving around inside something cut for a person you are not quite yet. The looseness is not a mistake in the fit but the room you grow into. Everyone who looks settled in a role once rattled around in it.

When you feel unqualified this week, write down what specifically you cannot do yet. Learn one item on that list rather than trying to feel adequate in general. Competence closes the gap faster than confidence does, and confidence follows it.
