The first week of a new habit is all friction. By week six, it’s just who you are.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Early on, every repetition requires a decision, and decisions are expensive. You are fighting the old default while the new one has no grooves yet, which is why week one feels disproportionate to the size of the task. Around the point where the action stops needing an argument, it starts running on its own. The difficulty curve drops much faster than most people expect.

Make the first two weeks as easy as you can stand, smaller than feels serious. Attach it to something you already do at the same time daily. Judge the habit at week six, not on the morning it feels pointless.
