Keep the parts of the old you that were kind. Upgrade the rest.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Change often gets treated as replacement, as though the previous version has to be discarded entirely. Plenty of what you were is worth keeping, particularly the generosity, the patience and the way you treated people who could do nothing for you. Improvement does not require becoming harder. The goal is a more capable version of the same decent person.

Name one thing about your younger self you actually admire and protect it deliberately. Notice whether the new pace has quietly cost you some of it. Keep the kindness while you upgrade the competence, because only one of those is easy to get back.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which kindness from younger you is worth protecting forever?
