When credit gets handed out, count how many names you say before your own.

Where your own name falls in the order is a quick and honest measure of what you are doing this for. It is not about false modesty or refusing recognition, because taking credit for your own work is fine. The question is simply whether the people who made it possible get named first, by reflex, without you having to remember to do it. That reflex is built over time and it shows.

Next time something goes well, list the others before yourself and be specific about what each one did. Count afterwards if you want an honest number.
