Every wrong turn teaches you the map a little better. Nobody knows a city like the person who got lost in it.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Getting it right the first time teaches you one route. Getting it wrong teaches you the shape of the whole area, because you have already been down the streets that do not work. That is why somebody who fumbled through a subject often understands it better later than the person it came easily to. The detours are the map.

Next time something goes sideways, spend two minutes writing down what you now know that you did not that morning. Keep those notes somewhere you will actually find them. A wrong turn nobody looks at twice is the only kind that gets wasted.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What did getting lost once teach you that directions never could?
