Build yourself into someone capable of helping at a higher level.

Only so much help is possible with what you currently know, and beyond that limit good intentions stop being sufficient. Building yourself is not a detour from helping. It is what raises the level at which your help actually changes anything.

Identify where you keep running into your own ceiling when trying to be useful. Then spend a season closing that specific gap. Capability is the constraint far more often than willingness.
