Most “urgent” things are only urgent because someone else didn’t plan. Don’t inherit their panic.

Urgency is often just someone else’s missing preparation. It feels like an emergency because it is being delivered at high speed, but speed is not the same as importance. Taking it on immediately teaches everyone that your time absorbs their delays. You can be helpful without being the place where other people’s poor planning gets solved.
Next time something lands marked as urgent, ask when it is actually needed and what happens if it waits. Often the honest answer changes the whole shape of the day. Help if you can and want to, but decide it yourself rather than being swept along by how fast it arrived.
