New family setups take time. You don’t have to love everyone on day one; start with respect and see where it goes.

Being told to feel close to somebody new does not make it happen, and pretending wears everyone in the house out. Affection is not something you can schedule. Respect is, and it is enough to live on while the rest either develops or does not. Nobody is behind for needing longer than the adults were hoping.
Aim for ordinary courtesy this week rather than warmth: greetings, names, the small civil things. Let the relationship become whatever it becomes across a year. If it stays polite rather than close, that is a real outcome and not a failure on your part.
Who joined your family recently that you are still warming to?
