A scar is just proof your body decided to close the wound instead of leaving it open.

RESILIENCE
Scar tissue is a closing rather than a wound. It marks the place where the body stopped bleeding and built something tough enough to keep out what would have gone on hurting you. It is not pretty and was never meant to be, since the job was structural. Visible evidence of healing gets mistaken for visible evidence of damage.
When you notice a mark, physical or otherwise, ask what it closed instead of what caused it. Tell the story that way, if you tell it at all. Repair deserves more of your attention than the injury does.
Which scar of yours marks something that finally closed?
