There is a difference between someone knowing your story and someone understanding its weight.

Knowing the facts of what happened to someone is not the same as grasping what it cost them. Plenty of people can recite your history and still treat it as background information, mentioning it casually or expecting you to be past it on their timeline. Understanding the weight means adjusting their behaviour to it. That is a much rarer thing and it is what makes someone safe to tell.
Notice who handles what you have told them with care rather than curiosity. Those are the people worth telling more. It is also fine to give the facts to many and the weight to very few.
