People learn courage differently when someone credible tells them mistakes are survivable.

RESILIENCE
Being told that failure is survivable means little from someone who has not visibly survived anything. From a person whose credibility you accept, and who names their own mistakes plainly, it lands differently and lowers the perceived cost of trying. Much of what passes for courage is really just an accurate estimate of the downside, learned from someone who has been there.
If you have made mistakes and recovered, say so out loud to the people coming behind you. Include the parts that were embarrassing. That detail is what makes it usable.
