“You’ve changed” can be the best compliment you ever get from someone who liked the old deal.

Complaints about change sometimes describe the change and sometimes describe an arrangement that stopped working in someone else’s favour. Being easier to ask things of, quicker to agree, slower to object, all of that was convenient, and losing it can get reported back to you as a decline in character. Whose interests the old version served is the useful question.
When you hear this, work out which specific change is being objected to. If it is something you are proud of, let the complaint stand unanswered. Not everyone loses something when you grow.
Who preferred an older version of you that cost you something?
