You eventually become old enough to understand why certain advice sounded boring when you needed it most.

The dull advice tends to be the load-bearing kind: save some, sleep, be honest early, keep in touch with people. It sounded boring because it named an outcome you had not yet felt, and description without experience never lands. Then it arrives, and you understand that the person telling you was not being unimaginative but accurate.

When you find yourself dismissing advice as obvious, separate obvious from acted upon. Most people know the boring things and do not do them. Pick one you nodded at years ago and start it this week, even at a very small scale. It will be a decade before you see the whole return, and there is no faster version.
