Sort the rules you follow into two piles: ones you believe in and ones you’re just scared to break.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Rules you follow out of conviction and rules you follow out of fear produce identical behaviour and completely different lives. The fear-based ones are harder to see because compliance feels like agreement from the inside, and nobody ever asks you to state your reason. They accumulate quietly over years.

Take an hour and list the rules you actually live by, then mark each one with why. Some will be obviously yours. For the others, ask what you think would happen if you broke one, and whether that still holds now that you are the person you are.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Which rule would you break if nobody punished you for it?
