Leave success undefined and the internet fills in the blank for you, usually with a leased car and a rooftop pool.

An undefined goal gets defined by whatever is most visible. Success is an abstract word until something fills it in, and the images available are plentiful, specific and produced by people with an interest in what you want. You end up chasing a picture you never chose, and the missing step was simply not writing your own down.

Spend twenty minutes describing what a good life looks like in concrete daily terms. Where you wake up, what you do, who is around. Keep it and read it occasionally, because a written answer resists replacement far better than a vague one.
