You are made from material older than every story anyone has ever told about you.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The atoms that make you were forged in conditions no human witnessed and have existed for an amount of time that makes every human story recent. Whatever anyone has said about you, whatever you have concluded about yourself, is a very late and very brief description laid over material that predates all narrative. That is a strange thing to be made of.
When a story about who you are feels crushing, remember that it is recent and the material is not. This is not a way of dismissing what people say. It just puts the story back in proportion to the thing it is describing, which is considerably older and stranger than the account.
What definition of you has been given far too much authority?
