You’re allowed to outgrow a sport you used to love. Quitting that isn’t failure if you choose it clear-eyed.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Loving something once does not oblige you to love it forever, and continuing out of obligation is loyalty to an older version of yourself rather than to the sport. The difficulty is telling apart leaving because it is genuinely finished and leaving because of a bad patch. One is a decision and the other is an escape. From the outside, and often from the inside, the two look identical.
Before deciding, give it a short defined trial. Six weeks of proper effort, then choose. Wanting to go after a good stretch rather than a bad one is what makes it a clear choice.
What do you still do only out of old love?
