Bad news lands hardest at night. Most decisions look different after sleep and breakfast.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Bad news arriving late finds you without any of the equipment you need for it. Tired, alone, nothing open, nobody to ask, and a mind that has lost its sense of scale. So the first response is almost always the worst one available, and it feels like the clearest. Morning does not change the news, only your ability to hold it.

Make a rule for yourself now: nothing gets decided after eleven. Write the worry down and leave it until after breakfast, when it will be a different size. Genuinely urgent things are rarer than the feeling suggests, and they will still be urgent at eight.
