Mean comments are written in thirty seconds by people who’ll never think about you again. Don’t give them thirty days.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
A cruel comment costs almost nothing to produce. Somebody typed it between other things, felt briefly powerful, and has not thought about you since, while you are still carrying it weeks later. That imbalance is the whole problem: you are giving sustained attention to something that was never more than a moment of carelessness.
If a comment is still in your head, stop reopening the place it lives. Mute it, block it, or take the app off your phone for a week. Say the sentence out loud to one friend, because things lose a surprising amount of their force once somebody else has heard them.
How many days have you given a stranger’s comment?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
