Some injuries end careers. If yours did, you’re allowed to grieve the athlete and still build the person.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Losing the thing you organised your life around is a real loss and deserves to be treated as one. The athlete was not a hobby. It was how you understood yourself, how your friendships worked, what your week was for. You can mourn that properly and still be someone with a long life ahead, and both are allowed at once.

There is no schedule here, and nobody else gets to set one for you. If it helps, keep some of what the sport gave you: the people, the early mornings, the coaching, the gym. When you are ready, one small new thing is enough to begin with.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What version of yourself are you still mourning?
