Seasick sailors are told to watch the horizon. When everything’s rocking, find the one thing that holds still.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

When everything around you is moving, your body needs one fixed reference to work out which way is up. That is as true of a bad month as it is of a boat: with nothing steady, you end up reacting to each new piece of motion. The fixed thing does not have to be big, it only has to not move.

Choose one thing to hold constant this week whatever else happens: a bedtime, a run, a meal with the same people, one class you do not miss. Keep it even on the days it feels pointless. Steadiness in one place is what lets you tolerate chaos in the rest.
