The person you used to be has opinions about everything, and those opinions are based on a situation that no longer exists. Growth begins when that version stops getting an automatic say in current decisions, when you notice that the objection arriving is a report from an earlier context. You are not silencing your past. You are just removing its default authority.

When a familiar objection appears, ask when you formed it and whether the conditions still hold. Let it make its case rather than assuming it. Some of those old positions will still be right, and now you will know which.
