Chess players lose hundreds of games on the way to good. Losing is literally part of the rating system.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

In a rated system, losses are not interruptions to improvement, they are the mechanism. Each one places you more accurately and shows you which pattern you have not learned yet. Someone who only played people they could beat would have a flattering number and no idea where they really stood. The same holds for anything you want to get properly good at.

Make sure some of what you do this week is against people slightly better than you, where you expect to lose. Afterwards, find the one moment it turned and name it. Keeping the loss and the lesson together is what turns a count into skill.
