Some days you’re the rescuer, some days you need rescuing. Good teams switch roles without keeping score.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
In any group that lasts, help moves in both directions, and the accounting is a bad idea because the balance is never even at a given moment. Keeping score turns support into debt, and people stop asking once there is a tally running. Groups that work assume the roles will swap, so nobody has to earn the right to need something.
If you have been the one holding things up, take something this week without paying it back immediately. If you have been the one needing help, offer something before being asked. Notice whether anybody around you keeps a ledger, because that tells you plenty.
