Pick friends who make the right choice easier, not just the fun one.

Who you are around sets how much effort the sensible thing takes. With some people you have to brace yourself to say no, and with others the question never comes up, so that energy stays yours for something else. Fun is easy to find and worth having. The rarer thing is company that costs you nothing to be good around.

Think about which friendships leave you defending yourself and which ones do not. Give a little more of this week to the second kind, and bring them along to the thing you would have gone to alone. Easy and good can be the same room.
