Good mentors answer questions with questions. Annoying in the moment. Useful for years.

Being handed an answer solves today and leaves you exactly where you started tomorrow. Being asked something that makes you find it yourself is slower, mildly irritating, and it installs a method you can use on the next problem, when nobody will be around. The frustration you feel is the sensation of actually working. People who only ever gave you answers were making themselves necessary.
Next time somebody does this to you, take the question seriously instead of pressing for the shortcut. Say your half-formed answer out loud. And when somebody asks you something you know, try asking what they have already tried.
Whose refusal to just tell you the answer helped you later?
