Reinvention is sometimes taken to mean erasing your history, which is both impossible and unnecessary. What actually changes is whether the past keeps producing the present: the same patterns, the same reactions, the same outcomes repeating under new circumstances. Everything that happened stays true. What stops is the repetition.

Identify a pattern that keeps recurring and treat that recurrence, rather than the history, as the target. Ask what would break the cycle this time. You can acknowledge everything that happened and still refuse to let it run the current version.
