Anger can identify harm without being qualified to determine punishment.

Anger is a good detector and a poor judge. It notices harm quickly, often before reasoning catches up, and that early warning is genuinely valuable. What it cannot do is weigh proportion, context, or what would actually repair the situation, because scale is not something it measures.
Let anger tell you that something is wrong, then hand the question of response to a calmer version of yourself, ideally on a later day. Keep the signal and change who acts on it.
What did your anger get right before it went too far?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
