A rejected idea isn’t dead. It’s in storage until it meets the right project.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

An idea can be good and still not fit where you first tried to put it. Wrong length, wrong tone, wrong moment, wrong brief: none of that is a judgement on the idea, only on the pairing. Most people throw it out anyway, because a refusal feels like a ruling. Kept somewhere findable, it tends to surface later as exactly the thing a different project needed.

Start one file for the orphans and put everything cut or refused into it, with a line about what it was for. Read through it whenever you begin something new. You will be surprised how often an old piece fits a new frame.
